Pizza delivery!

So everyday on my way home from work I see this pizza place called
Pizza La and I can see that they deliver. I've always wondered how it would work if I called them up and tried to order or what in the heck I would order if I tried! So tonight I decided to look them up online and found their website, all in Japanese of course. From the little bit of Japanese I could read, and from a lotta bit of help from Google translate, I registered for the site and ordered online (between registering and ordering it probably took me about an hour and a half lol)!!!! We ordered spicy sausage (so far Marc approves) and some honzuwaiganito pasta (never heard of it before but they had an an english menu, and according to it, it is spaghetti with snow crab, shrimp and tomato cream sauce). They delivered it just like they said they would 40 minutes later. I foresee much pizza in my future :-D

Missing Home

Of course I knew I was going to miss home, but I didn't know when, or how, or where it was going to hit me.  Even though I'm in the second most amazing country in the world, nothing can replace home.  So here's the funny part.  I've been fine this whole time, but I haven't been able to link up with the HAVA box I had installed at my dad's house so I couldn't watch any American TV.  No big deal.  I'm at an internet cafe right now and was finally able to connect and when I first turned the HAVA software on and started watching my shows I thought I was gonna cry! No joke!!! I swear its not the TV I miss, it just finally hit me that there are some things, in some places, I just simply won't be able to do or get.  So now all I can think about it is how long its going to be before I can see anybody! Of course, this feeling is short lived since as soon as I walk out this door and see a vending machine and grab a milk tea I know I'm exactly where I want to be. Yes, I'm easy like that.  All it takes is milk tea.  Or a stationery store! 

Anyway, I have a couple episodes of The Ultimate Fighter and the Daily Show to watch.  Sayonara!

The waiter came over and, in all of his Japanese politeness, cooked the rest of what I ordered for me b/c I burnt the next batch of mini-hot dogs and bbq ribs. Besides the smell from burning meat, there were some small, but noticeable flames coming from the grill. If you know me at all and you ever thought I was joking when I said I don't belong in the kitchen perhaps this drives my point home :-D

At a korean bbq place! :-) damn near burnt my fingers off trying to cook this ish!! Good thing it was ridiculously delish. Kinda pricey at \2000 but it was all you can eat for 90 min so please believe that I ate all I could. Woo hoo for having to walk home!

Aaaaaand I'M OFF!!

So the week before I came to Virginia was pure INSANITY!! Getting the house ready for my tenant (who is already driving me nuts), making sure I had everything I needed (which I didn't) and saying good bye to everyone (which sucked!) made things go by really, really fast. It kinda seemed like I was going 200MPH and then when my dad and grammy bear dropped me off at the airport somebody slammed on the brakes. I kinda didn't know what to do...so of course I bought 3 newspapers and did the crosswords in the airport since my flight was delayed :-D I started work the day after I got here and it took me all dang week to get my computer access so I've pretty much done nada at work. Everyone seems real cool and laid back though so I can't complain too much!

My last dinner in Tucson with Joey, Debbie, Grammy Bear, and Dad.  Of course we had sushi :)

Moving makes me never want to buy anything ever again!

You think you're done once the movers take that last box but noooooo, of course it couldn't be THAT easy.  And despite the fact that you told yourself a month ago that you were going to do a little bit each week you haven't done much until the day before and now you're sitting in what should be a totally empty house but instead you look around and there's all this junk left over! My house is almost perfectly empty, I've repainted stuff, had the carpets cleaned and almost have my renter all ready to go.  Salvation army is coming by tomorrow to pick up half of my garage and the other half is all recyclable stuff or garbage and while I know its just a matter of getting off my butt and taking all that stuff to the dump it feels like its never going to be over! *sigh* Anyway, I'm off to VA on Monday and I have a jam packed weekend full of football and friends that I can't wait for! Don't really have anything super exciting to talk about,  just trying to get into the habit of posting regularly so feel free to leave comments or topic ideas :-D

The Space Bag Debate...Settled!

So I was at Big Lots yesterday (oh how I will miss Big Lots!) And I saw a Space Bag 7 piece value pack for $15. Since I basically I have to cram 2.5 months worth of clothes into 2 suitcases I figured $15 was a reasonable price to pay for some research :-) Last night I took pics of the clothes in the bag before I vacuumed the air out, after I vacuumed the air out, and this morning to see how much air it let in. I used a small Kleenex box (aside: spend the extra money and get the kleenex with lotion...your nose will thank you!) so you can get an idea of how big the bag was before and after. I took these pics with my camera phone so its still kind of hard to see but the bag really did go down to about half of its starting size and was the same size this morning! Woo hoo!!! Conclusion: Success!!! Its gonna suck lugging around these heavy suitcases but at least I won't have to wear the same thing to work everyday!!

The movers are coming, the movers are coming!

I still don't know when the movers are coming b/c the lady at the company refuses to confirm the actual date with me!!! I think they're coming on Thursday so here's a quick snapshot of what the house looks like.  If you know me, you might be confused b/c this is pretty much what my house looks like all the time but I swear the house is actually (sort of) separated into what I'm taking and what I'm storing :-D I am BEYOND excited for this move and I can't wait to get over to Japan already! I promise my writings will get better and hopefully a little more exciting but here's to my first post! Stay tuned, kids! 

I'm taking these pics with my webcam so bear with me on the pics too...I'll get a new camera soon enough :-D
